So it’s not about the size of the list, it’s about the quality. A lot of business owners expend a huge amount of energy building a huge list, only to make no sales from it.
So how do you get a targeted list? This isn’t as hard as you might think. Here are three strategies to do this:
Focus on the Target
If you are targeting the wrong people, you will not have a focused list. You want to only go after those in your target market which results in sales.
For instance, if you are a relationship coach for single men, you probably don’t want moms who buy organic fruits and vegetables on your email marketing list.
Do a Joint Venture
A joint venture is where you partner with someone in your field who has a list of customers related to what you are selling. They will then send out an email to their list advertising your product.
This is another great way to generate targeted prospects on your email list. Just make sure your joint venture partner is selling a closely related product or service so that you end up with the right people on your list.
Ask for a Lot of Information
It’s no secret that the less information you get, the more people will sign up. This is why most sites just get the first name and email address of the person signing up.
However, if someone is willing to give you their phone number and home address, this means they are a great prospect. This isn’t necessarily something you want to do, but it might be worth testing.
The bottom line is, as long as you focus your advertising on the right sources of traffic, you can be sure that 100% of your visitors are prospects. So avoid getting people on your list just to get them on your list. They are not targeted and will not help you in the long run.
